The Breakfast Club
Five strangers with nothing in common, except each other.
They were five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library. At 7 a.m., they had nothing to say, but by 4 p.m. they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. John Hughes creator of the critically acclaimed Sixteen Candles, wrote, directed and produced this hilarious and often touching comedy starring Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy. To the outside world they were simply the Jock, the Brain, the Criminal, the Princess and the Kook, but to each other, they would always be The Breakfast Club.

80's classic holds up - Hilarity
When this came out while I was in high school, I couldn't have imagined that it would still be meaningful and entertaining. The loss of John Hughes has made it more watched now than ever, so I hope more of you will re-discover this recent classic.
I took this DVD with me on vacation recently and ended up watching it while stuck overnight at an airport. Needless to say, I wasn't in the best of moods at the time, but this film really brightened my evening. The clash of different types of people can be as true in the adult world as it is in high school (look at the people in first class vs those in coach).Classic Teen Movie - Anyone can watch. - WhatsOnGirl
Snapshot: 5 different stereotyped kids + Detention + John Hughes = Best Teen movies ever made.
Okay, so yes its a teen movie, but its more a movie you watch in your teens, but can learn from years to come. So you probably won't be watching it after age 25, but still. Every character, every line, and every emotion is completely clear, and any teenager can connect to one of the characters.
The Geek? The Princess? The basketcase? The Athlete? The Rebel? Everyone in highschool can learn from every character, as they connect the things they go through to what happens to us in real life. Its close to teen genius, but its not some classic black and white movie. Rather it is something to show to your kids, to get them thinking about where they stand in life, and what that means to them. When I first saw this thats exactly what I did.
The Characters are strong and amazingly played by each teenage actor. Their emotions are real, and is exactly what we're going through. The plot is interesting, and grabbing. The writing plain smart. You can never see this movie too many times, as you see new thing each time, and start dancing along with them.
Watch, share, think.A Classic - Mistaya
The Breakfast Club will forever be a favorite of mine. While the characters are an unlikley mix to become friends, even in make-beleive, it inspires the veiwer to consider possibilities. Each character is so well defined and the story so well told. I have watched it several times over the last 15 or so years and have yet to tire of it.
It may be lost on those born post 1985, I tried to share it with some younger co-workers who prefered fast cars and bright lights. You need to know 16 candles, and the like, to appreciate the era of this movie.
