The Education Of Little Tree
A boy of two worlds must learn to be his own man.
James Cromwell (Babe) stars in this heartwarming adaptation of the acclaimed best-seller about an eight-year-old Cherokee boy in Tennessee's Smoky Mountains during the 1930s.
That boy is Little Tree (Joseph Ashton), sent to live with his mountain-dwelling grandparents after the loss of his mother and father. It's the beginning of a new life for Little Tree, filled with joy, discovery, setbacks, triumphs and good friends like mystical Cherokee seer Willow John (Graham Greene). Life is hard during the depression, but for Little Tree it's an unforgettable time of growing up.

Straight forward, eas to understand and just as easily loved! Spiritual without being heavy like other movies trying to preach. It's beautifully told and 'cinematography' [spelling?] is gorgeous. wonderful insight to life, love, and nature. Go Canadian films!a "quiet surprise" - dtwhalen
This movie is more than I thought it would be. I rented it to watch with my 6-year-old daughter, and it made her ask questions, and struck her emotions deeply. It is a very believable performance by all the actors, and seems to be accurately portraying the plight of many children like Little Tree in the era of Indian schools. If you want your kids to learn something, this is the movie to show them!
