The Evil Dead
The Ultimate Experience In Grueling Terror Just Got Better.
In the summer of 1979, a group of Detroit friends with $375,000 raised from local investors headed for a cabin outside of Morristown, Tennessee to make a film about five college students possessed by an ancient 'Book of the Dead.' The filmmakers' goal was to create 'The Ultimate Experience in Grueling Terror,' a movie so relentless that it would stand forever as a landmark in modern horror history. When it was released in 1982, it was immediately recognized worldwide as one of the most ferociously original films ever made. Twenty years later, this is The Evil Dead like you've never seen or heard it before.
The Evil Dead is now more grueling than ever, featuring newly restored state-of-the-art digitally remastered picture and sound, and loaded with incredible extras, all personally supervised by director Sam Raimi. This is the Ultimate Edition of the legendary film that launched the careers of Raimi, producer Robert Tapert and star Bruce Campbell unleashed an unprecedented army of primitive screwheads upon the world and changed the face of horror forever!

Great early Raimi. - estefan
So full of imagination and creativity, The Evil Dead really works mainly due to the feeling that Sam Raimi is having so much fun off-camera. It's simply a schlocky horror flick that throws in the right ingredients and despite its very low budget, the makeup and effects work is actually very impressive. Bruce Campbell jumps into this role and though the other actors are under-whelming, he more than makes up for it. While the off-the-wall bonkers nature of The Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness aren't as prominent, there are still some crazy moments like a perverted tree and the hilarious end credits that add further enjoyment to this delightful and unflinching "video nasty", as it was labelled in Great Britain.a bloody good time - slasher
this movie is great to watch around halloween time, a great film to watch if your an oldie gore movie fan, this film even though it can be a little corny but a great story about a young man fighting off his repossessed friends, can he survive. a 80's horror movie all must watchEvil DEAD horror classic - Buffy
Evil Dead is one of those movies you just have to love if you are a horror fan...It is kind of cheesey but really gory even for its time...You will find yourself laughing at some parts and cringing at others that is what I love about this good Zombie movie...
