The Exorcist
The Version You've Never Seen!
Brace yourself as one of the all-time spellbinders possesses you all over again. Director William Friedkin and producer/screenwriter William Peter Blatty have revisited The Exorcist to integrate 11 minutes of scenes and images deleted before the film's 1973 release and digitally restore the picture and audio elements. The result is an experience more gripping than ever.
Now seen are moments deepening the impact of the performances by Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Jason Miller, Max von Sydow and Lee J. Cobb. They include a "nervous disorder" diagnosis, expansion of Father Merrin's arrival before the ritual, priestly doubts during the ritual, an epilogue with Lt. Kinderman and Father Dyer and most notably, a shattering staircase descent by Regan. Winner of Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay (by Blatty) and Sound, The Exorcist astonishes time and again like no other movie.

Chef-d'oeuvre - morlock
Intense, scary, affecting - clauditorium
Intense, scary, affecting, nightmare-inducing horror film has a spooky, disturbing prologue, a cool dream sequence, and a shattering, moving climax. The mother-daughter relationship is the emotional thread throughout. Linda Blair is very good as the possessed child.Scariest Movie of All Time - Just_Lacks_Zazz
Really all I can say is that this movie set the bar so high for horror movies that almost everything since then has fallen drastically short and face-planted into a pit full of lava. This movie is terrifying and gives me the chills just thinking about how well it was done. It just annoys me that I've only watched about 3 movies since that have even come close to being this scary. And the pathetic part is that this movie was made without any of the special effects we have today!!!
I have to say that my favorite aspect of this movie is the use of psychological terror by film-makers. Every moment I feel enveloped in the story and horribly uneasy at the same time - even when not much is happening. There are flashes of faces, superimposition of images on others, terrifying music, and the list goes on. All of these are tools which are used to scare the crap out of viewers. The film also has such a terrifying story to begin with that when it's coupled with these tools the movie just comes out shining. I don't believe in demonic possession but man this movie scares me. I really recommend this movie to anyone who is willing to sit down to watch a classic and get terrified at the same time.
