The Fog
Fog is nothing new to the quaint seaside village of Antonio Bay. But on the night of its 100th anniversary, a fogbank rolls in unlike any other. Eerie lights, dark figures, and the masts of an ancient schooner appear in the swirling mists, and soon the specters of long-murdered sailors descend upon the town. Using knife, hook and sword, they exact revenge for sins committed by the town's founding fathers, leaving horrified survivors struggling to solve a hundred-year crime. And they must solve it - or die.

a classic horror - moviebuffs
this is a must see for all you horror film fans. its a classic, grab the edge of your seat, thriller horror. it has great suspense and surprises. enough to keep everyone interested but not too much as to say aaaaaaw... this is cheesy!! i love this film. another good old one you may have not seen is "the Car" its another suspense thriller..... made in the late 70's or early 80's but still good to this day. revisit your childhood...give it a shot.Good enough for me - Coconut_Willy
Certainly not the best John Carpenter movie, even more so when considering that this was his follow-up to Halloween but a good film nonetheless. Very good cast doing a good acting job, good storyline, good camera work, classic Carpenter soundtrack and appropriate effects. The sets and locations are very good and the way the suspense builds up in this movie is also very good. This movie does not have a lot of gore in it but should certainly please horror/suspense fans. Recommended.
The transfer to DVD is of good enough quality with very little visible damage. The disc has both the full screen and the widescreen versions and contains quite a bit of interesting extras including two very good documentaries.take it as it is. - mopsy
There has been alot of misunderstood reviews about this movie. It comes from another time in movie making. It is a decent movie for the time that it was made, and remains a decent movie for a horror movie enthusiest. If you are looking for a masterpiece in modern movie making than it will be tough to find a true classic in the horror genre of the time period. Rent the exorcist again if your expectations are too high.
