The General's Daughter
Go Behind The Lies
There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Army way. But there's no way military investigator Paul Brenner (John Travolta) is going to participate in a cover-up when Fort MacCallum officials try to hide the motive behind the murder of a beautiful female officer.
Travolta's magnetic performance sparks this riveting thriller from the director of Con Air and the producer of The Hunt For Red October.
Madeline Stowe plays Brenner's co-investigator and former flame. And James Cromwell, Timothy Hutton, Clarence Williams III and James Woods are among the suspects in this "steamy game of cat and mouse that will keep you guessing until the surprising, explosive ending." - Sandie Newton, CBS-TV

this is a very good movie Travolta shines here. This is above all a mystery movie but with it's fair share of action. The story is very well written and the effects are top shelf. if you are into military type movies with a twist this is for you. Full widescreen format would have been better but...Job well done - movie_goer
When The General's Daughter was release on theatres Travolta did a huge promotional tour for the epic film and explained the right and wrong ways of military edicate. ie: how to salute.
In hollywood these days you don't need any talent to make it big. But For Travolta he is the rare few leading veterans of acting that proves he's timeless and refined. As a solider he wears the uniform like a pro, with dignity and never once slains the Army lifestyle. As a undercover cop who's looking to bust a few bad weeds things get twisted as the Generals daughter is mysteriously murdered. Travolta who's grown an infatuation to her vows to find the killer and put peace and justice amomg those who deserve it. All along i figured out who was guilty (It's always the least suspected character). But for the long haul i did enjoy the storyline and it's quirks.Really good - dgeldart
The story behind this movie is very good, as a young woman joins a military academy and works hard to please her daddy, the General, only to end up the victim of a violent rape at the hands of her fellow cadets. But, daddy helps cover up the crime 'for the good of the corp', and ultimately the girl is killed.
John Travolta is good as the somewhat jaded career military investigator reviewing the murder. Unfortunately, the ending gets a bit carried away, which detracts from what otherwise is a very good film.
