The Godfather Part 3
The Coppola Restoration
The Final Chapter!
In the final installment of the epic Corleone trilogy, Al Pacino reprises his role as powerful family leader Michael Corleone. Masterfully exploring the themes of power, tradition, revenge and love, Francis Ford Coppola directs Pacino, Andy Garcia, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Eli Wallach, Sofia Coppola, Joe Mantegna and others in this final chapter of the trilogy. Nominated for seven Academy Awards in 1990, including Best Picture.

"The story is set in 1979 when, before retiring, an aging Michael Corleone tries to go legitimate by entering respectable real estate and communications deals, but is slowly drawm back into the world of organized crime against his will."
This movie really taints the Godfather franchise. The concept is good (i.e. Godfather Part I is Michael's rise to power, Godfather Part II is Michael's peak reign, and then Godfather Part III is supposed to show him in his later years and kind of mellowed more and regretting some of the things he's done). But the actual plot of the movie and some of the casting was just really poorly done. Like, Andy Garcia and Joe Montagne really don't do a very good job. Coppola's daughter plays Mary Corleone, and her acting is average at best. Also, there's weird part where Mary Corleone and Andy Garcia's character have an incestual relationship (the characters are cousins, and they have sex and a romantic relationship for a while).
It was just really disappointing. Especially after how great Godfather Part I and II are. I would almost say just skip this one, but it does kind of serve a purpose in the series. So instead, I'd just say, if you've seen I and II, but haven't seen III yet, lower your expectations like 1000%, and you may even kind of enjoy this movie...haha.Tainted - nobbymcdobby
This movie stinks. Beautifully shot, some great acting from some of the actors but just pointless. How did Coppola get the ego to cast his own daughter in a starring role? I mean honestly the real actors in this movie must have been rolling their eyes. She is just not an actress. She basically ruined the movie. It wouldn't have been very good anyways but she is just cringe-inducing.AWFUL - should never have been made! - DaisySteiner
This is a terrible film which has almost nothing to do with the Godfather I and II (which are amazing and two of the greatest films of all time). This third installment is terribly written, and badly-acted even by the great actors.
I cannot explain how a cinematic travesty such as this came to be, only that there must have been intense pressure on Coppola, etc. to produce a follow-up to make a trilogy. The movie is just AWFUL. If you're a fan of the first two Godfather films, do yourself a favour and stay far FAR away from this one. I was warned and now I dearly wish I had heeded that warning.
