The Governess
The story of a privileged woman who leaves her family after her father violently dies, she passes herself off as a governess in far off Scotland where she becomes passionately and secretly involved with the head of the household.
An acclaimed portrait of consuming love and lost innocence starring Oscar nominee Minnie Driver (Best Supporting Actress, Good Will Hunting, 1997) as a young woman who loses her identity - and her innocence - in an all-consuming love affair.

well spent evening - billie
A wonderful movie about so much more than the jacket blurb would have you believe. Minnie Driver is excellent as the Jewish girl in gentile surroundings. The costumes and settings are painterly, there are scenes that look like Old Masters paintings. The information about photography in the day was fascinating, and the differences between the cultures revealing. A completely enjoyable movie experience, well worth watching.
