The Hills Have Eyes
The Classic Finally Comes To DVD
The Carters are an all-American family on their way to California when their car breaks down far from civilization in the remote southwestern desert. But they are not alone: Watching from the hills is a very different kind of clan, a family of marauding inbred cannibals with an unspeakable taste for human flesh and monstrous brutality. In the nightmare that follows, what depravities must this wholesome family endure to survive? And in a primal wasteland ruled by lust and rage, who will become the most shocking savages of all?

Wes Craven's Sophomore effort - DeaditeSlayer
Many people don't give this movie much of a chance because of the success of the remake directed by Alexandre Aja but people need to be reminded that without this film, there would have been no remake at all. Though the mutants don't look as much as mutants in the remake, this film scared people back the in the day. The film suffers the most from being very outdated but delivers the goods with great performance from all the actors. You'll never want to go to the desert alone again! Thanks t Wes Craven, the hillbilly/mutant horror genre is now widely available for many years in the form of many direct to video/DVD in low budget and Hollywood cinema (Wrong Turn anybody?) Goof flick.I wanna eat the baby - Chucky
I love the whole nuclear induced genetic mutation thing. The cast was exclent the plot amazing and I clapped when they set the bitter old cop on fire. They got fair warning and choose to go ahead anyway, a lot like when I warned the city employee that trying to put a fallen wasp nest in a garbage bag in broad daylight may not be the best idea. Well; he went ahead and tried to bag it anyway. By then I was at a safe distance, I don't think he'll do that again. Not too much gore, lots of violence and plenty of cheap thrill, worth a watchDeserves more credit. - Jimmy_Jam
This is an obvious B-film, but boy what a film it is. Ok, so the quality and acting are not oscar worthy, but the creepy chills that Craven creates are truely uncanny. It really is a quite disturbing film in all aspects, without giving anything away, lets just say that everything seems familiar in a way that makes it very creepy. It is also different from modern horror films in that it gives the viewer credit; it is not full of mindless gore and monsters. It is a film full of psychological horror and a comparision of two families who are miles apart in some ways, but can both be equally violent. Excellent horror film.
