The Lady Vanishes
This classic mystery, and one of Hitchock's greatest films, manages to combine humor with a genuine sense of menace-not to mention a curiously amusing collection of characters. The film is set into motion when a seemingly innocuous old woman, Miss Froy, disappears while on board a train bound for England. An Acquaintance, Iris, becomes concerned and sets out to find her. What follow is a series of ingenious twists and turns finally steaming toward a suspenseful denouement. The film was extremely popular in the US and laid the tracks for the great British director's illustrious Hollywood career.

We all enjoyed this "who dunnit" for a variety of reason. One, it is familt friendly when compared to some of the other Hitchcock works such as The Birds, Physco, etc. Humour. Some of his movies with Cary Grant have spots of humour here and ther, but this title is filled with British humour. What we didn't like about this flick is the anti Nazi theme. Don't get me wrong, the Third Reich was not a group of good people. I just don't like war flicks. Other thsn that, a very good title for 10 years and up.Intriguing conspiracy - eojupiter
The music was terribly aged with really ear-bending warbles that were incredibly distracting. Why release a DVD without remastering the music?! The wobbly music aside, this movie was an intriguing conspiracy with some quite intense moments and a satisfying conclusion. What starts off as sort of light-hearted disappearance-on-a-train mystery turned deadly serious as the depth of the conspiracy is slowly revealed.solid entry - dural78
This is a solid movie in Alfred Hitchcock's body of work. As an early British film, it lacks the shine and star power of his later films. However, beneath the layers is a solid film laced with suspense and intrigue.
The film is a little slow to start out. You don't really know why these characters are brought together, and who the lead characters are until about a third of the way through. After it gets rolling, the movie definitely keeps you guessing.
Well done overall.
