The Last Boy Scout
The goal is to survive.
Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans star as a seedy detective and a disgraced quarterback, teaming to dodge ambushes, fire off one-liners and bust chops. When the going gets tough, they get together. And funnier. They came to play. And to settle a score in this raging fireball where bigger is better, hits are harder and bad guys end up deader.

I was surprised when I read that this film wasn't all that successful when it premiered in December, 1991. Maybe the timing wasn't right: after all, it's a vulgar, violent shoot-em-up, and December audiences don't always look kindly on that sort of film.
Regardless, this is one good film. It stars Bruce Willis in the prime of his career, in between "Die Hards," and then up-and-coming Damon Wayans. Halle Berry, not yet at the top of her game, plays a minor role in the film.
The film revolves around Joe Hallenbeck (Willis), a one-time high profile secret service agent for the President, now a small-time private detective. His family life is a mess, and when he learns his best friend is having an affair with his wife, it looks like things can't get worse. He then takes on a case to act as bodyguard for a stripper named Cory (Berry), but her death teams him up with her boyfriend, former pro football player James Alexander "Jimmy" Dix (Wayans). From there, the action comes fast and furious, almost as fast as the curse words.
Not to be missed, "The Last Boy Scout" is a non-stop thrill ride, for sure.Nice - seb1
In the early 90's, there was a definite, consistent presence in action movies: slow motion cinematography, wild gun-play, and funny one-liners. Granted, there are still some of those today (2004), but it just wasn't the same as back in the day. Now there are so many special effects in the current action films that it drowns out what used to be the great style of a "popcorn flick".
Die Hard paved the way for these type of movies, and some of the offspring of this did well and did not. The Last Boyscout was one that did well. This was a very intelligent and fun action/thriller/buddy-comedy that can still be enjoyed to this day. Tony Scott is the master of under-appreciated action movies in the 90's, such as this and True Romance.
My suggestion is to get a 6-pack, go rent this movie, sit back and enjoy the ride. The Last Boy Scout - Smart
One of my favourite movies of all time. The way Damon Wayans and Bruce Willis play off each other is fantastic. This movie has just about everything you could wish for. Action, corruption, greed, power, humour, etc...
Bruce Willis is a Private Investigator with not much going on, until a "dancer" contacts him about a job. But before he can learn much about what the job entails, something happens to his client. From there, Willis' character along with his client's boyfriend, and ex-pro footballer (Wayan's) team up to solve the mystery of the movie.
Watch it! You won't regret it! Best Action/Comedy in a LONG time!(Not recommended for kids under 16)
