The Man With Two Brains
Anyone who doesn't think Steve Martin is one of the funniest fellows on the planet should have his head examined. As The Man With Two Brains, madman Martin is just the guy to do it, Playing Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr, famed originator of zip-lock, screw-top brain surgery. The good doctor pines for his late wife - but slinky siren Dolores Benedict sashays into his life and changes all that. They're soon married but the truth quickly emerges: Dolores' beauty hides a calculating heart of stone. The situation is hopeless - until another brain specialist's oddball research offers a bizarre ray of hope. Anyone with half a brain will rejoice in the sheer lunacy of this sublimely silly farce.

this is a really funny movie. i just really hated certain aspects of the plot. it wraps up in the end, but it seemed like such a mess for most of the movie that it was distracting to me. but, steve martin is a gifted comedic actor, and if you enjoyed 'the jerk,' you will like this movie as well. There were actually some really funny screwball comedies in the early-to-mid eighties. Some of the best ones starred Steve Martin. The Man With Two Brains - alison_acevedo
This is one of my favourite Steve Martin movies of the eightees. Steve Martin reminds me of his roll in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as Dr. Maxwell Silverhammer as one of the best surgeons, spends a lot of time with his dead first wife's brain (This is obviously more complex and less creepy then it sounds). Kathleen Turner is his second wife who has just married him for money. I really liked the murder sub-plot in this movie.Hardly perfect but surely hilarious - eoguy
I wish Steve Martin would go back to making dumb, fun slapstick comedies like this. While they weren't always the best movies, they could guarantee some really good laughs in between the shaky plotline. Kathleen turned stars as an evil man-eater who seduces widowed brain surgeon Martin into marraige...the only problem is, he's still in love with his dead wife- dead except for her brain, that is, which he keeps in a jar and starts spending more time with than he does Turner (note: this is less creepy than it sounds). It's refreshing to watch a comedy that you can view while eating, because you don't have to worry about some disgusting gross-out involving bodily fluids. I hate to sound square, but with most R-rated comedies these days, the directors keep trying to out-do each other as far as who can think up the most disgusting gag, and it's getting sort of out of hand. Also, watch for a very young, pre-Re-Animator Jeffrey Combs as a nurse who goes a little too far prepping Turner for surgery.
