The Outlaw Josey Wales
As The Outlaw Josey Wales, two-time Academy Award® winner Clint Eastwood is ideally cast as a hard-hitting, fast-drawing loner, recalling his "Man with No Name" from his European Westerns. But unlike that other mythic outlaw, Josey Wales has a name - and a heart.
After avenging his family's brutal murder, Wales is on the lam, pursued by a pack of killers. He travels alone, but a ragtag group of outcasts (including Sondra Locke and Chief Dan George) is drawn to him - and Wales can't leave his motley surrogate family unprotected. Eastwood's skill before and behind the camera connected with audiences for its humor and tenderness as well as its hair-trigger action.

I love good westerns, but was disappointed. It's not that the idea was bad. It was just so horribly (over)acted by most of the supporting actors. The pacing did not help. I ceased to care about half way through, and stopped watching, which is rare. The Outlaw Josey Wales - mxr200
To simply say this is a great Western is an understatement. It is the story of the aftermath of a man dealing with an extreme loss. He sees the loss of his family and then the betrayal of his comrades. He later begins a trek across America where he attracts an assortment of characters. Johnny Carson stated it was the greatest Western ever made in his opinion. It certainly will not disappoint. The colourful backgrounds, the memorable quotes, and the climatic ending with the classic Oscar nominated theme song will make sure this is a well remembered movie. Enjoy.Classic Eastwood - FieroGT
Action movies are Clint Eastwood's thing. This is one of my all time favorite westerns and ranks right up there with Silverado Quigley down under Tombstone etc. As for a movie made in the 70's this is just brilliantly done and the direction (by Eastwood) is excellent as you would expect from one of his movies. The actors were well cast and Chief Dan George is a hoot to watch and the feature making of was well worth watching. I give it two thumbs up more if I had them
