The Perfect Storm
Atlantic swells form 100-foot walls. Wind shrieks at a maxed-out Force 12. In October 1991 three raging weather fronts -- one of them Hurricane Grace -- combine to form the greatest storm in recorded history.
George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg lead a talented cast in this harrowing special-effects adventure that intercuts the plight of seafarers struggling to reach safe harbor with the heroics of air/sea rescue crews. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, The Perfect Storm tosses excitement your way in waves.

This movie had a great story about the life! It was showing great parts of idea how they live and how they feel throughout the movie. The emotion around this gets into you and you can't stop thinking how and why. THis was one of the best movie that I can't forget.Nice tribute to those lost at sea - aBrickInTheWall
Granted, the musical score is a bit over the top... But I don't understand why the second half of this movie catches flak for it's speculation of what happened to the men on the boat during the storm -- because that is what one would expect. At least I did, and wasn't disappointed. Those scenes of waves in such a 'perfect storm' were scary enough to make me think twice about going out on the ocean again... and could make one a bit sea-sick! I think it was a well-done tribute -- how can you not be sad for a bunch of good-looking guys losing their lives to an angry sea?Spectacular - DM1-
While it is clear that the main plot of the movie will be the Andrea Gail’s struggle with the storm’s fury, the movie’s plot flip-flops between the escalating complications and animosity among the fishermen and their respective small victories. True, these create a tantalizing suspense, but they merely disrupt the flow of the plot's main undercurrent: the perfect storm. There are other sub-plots evolving at the same time, such as the coast guard helicopter trying to rescue a family and the helicopter running out of fuel, which distracts the main focus. However, The Perfect Storm is successful in its attempt to define the ocean as being truly perfect, when it is most dangerous with the use of spectacular photography and special effects. As a side note, since this is based on a true story, I just wonder, how much of the movie’s plot was from the real story?
