The Rachel Papers
"The freshest teen movie since Heathers!" - Boxoffice
Computer geeks usually don't get the girls... but imagine how things would change if a computer program could help! This "amusing, sharply acted" (Variety) teen comedy follows a young genius as he allows his raging hormones, high intellect - and desktop computer - to ensnare him to the most unsolvable of all equations: love!
Nineteen-year-old whiz kid Charles Highway (Dexter Fletcher) has developed a computer program that can attract any woman he fancies. But despite his computer know-how, Charles' current project, the sweet and beautiful Rachel Noyce (Ione Skye, Say Anything) refuses to download her affections! And when he falls head over heels with her, everything short-circuits for this cyber-lothario... and he finally gets a taste of how much unrequited love mega-hurts!

This is an interesting British take on the 80s coming of age, boy meets girl story. Very British understatement coupled with a believable ending. An unusually relaxed tone to the film also makes it interesting. Very good lead performance by Dexter Fletcher and some nice work by the also very attractive Ione Skye.Dexter Fletcher's brief shinning moment - XTRUClerk
I'm not even going to write a review here, I'm only going to point out that Dexter Fletcher and Jonathan Pryce are in this one. If this doesn't seem to be enough reason to rent it than you just don't know these actors well enough yet. Rent this film and find out why this is enough. Fletcher, in particular, turns in the kind of singular performance that should have made him a superstar. Think of Michael Caine in Alfie. Check out Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking barrels for more Fletcher -- even though the part is a bit small the film is really good. Cheers. How to get a girl - coolhand
This movie is one that I watched and watched as a kid. I loved Normans character in this movie. I think we all may have an uncle like him. This movie makes it possible to re-live if you wanted too. It is not suitable for younger audiences, however at some point in time, everyone should watch it.
