Rescuers Down Under is an excellent animated film from Disney's Golden era. The story follows Cody, a young Australian boy who spends his spare time saving animals from poachers. After he saves a giant golden eagle a local poacher kidnaps Cody and tries to get the eagle's secret location from the boy. The two rescuers are called in to save Cody.
Down Under stands out in a few respects. For one it has breathtaking scenery and the sense of vast scale is often used in the this film. It's also remarkably funny, both for kids and adults and the humour helps soften the serious subject matter of the plot. Rescuers is also one of the few animated Disney films I can think of which isn't a musical, there virtually no singing and, instead, keeps the action rushing forward.
It's a really well done and, perhaps, lighter Disney film than some of the other classics and well worth watching at any age.Adorable! - MrsH
As a big fan of the first "The Rescuers" I was so excited when I first saw this movie. Though I prefer the first, I love the character of Cody. The animals, the excitement its all very interesting. Ms. Bianca and Bernard are at it again proving to be the same good hearted mice they are known to be! A good adventure film for the whole family!Truly breathtaking. - estefan
The only Disney animated sequel to be better than its predecessor, The Rescuers Down Under is one of the most exciting animated films ever made. The animation is absolutely stunning with the aerial shots through the skies being a truly incredible experience that must have looked amazing on the cinema screen. Add in Bruce Broughton's amazing score and you have a film that is really a breath for the eyes and ears. Of course, it helps that the script is a funny, heart-warming with great characters, from our title heroes to George C Scott's scary poacher villains. Overall, this is a really great film that I really appreciate a lot more now in my old age.
