Slipper And The Rose, The
The Story Of Cinderella
The Slipper and the Rose is a grand musical adventure in the tradition of The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady. This lavish production features Richard Chamberlain in a spirited re-telling of the classic Cinderella fairy tale, and the Academy Award nominated score is provided by the Oscar winning song writing duo the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang). The Slipper and the Rose is a brilliant mix of fantasy and realism that will enchant viewers of all ages.
No musical collection would be complete without this romantically delightful film.

I love musicals and fairy-tales even more so but this one is brutally dull. The music is contrived and not in the least engaging. The acting is silly - I thought the prince was a complete goof. The dancing is awkward and seemed off the cuff. Annette Crosbie as the fairy godmother and the King (can't remember the actor) are the only high points in this movie.
The ballet in the mausoleum is especially bizarre.LOVED IT! - Whirlwind
Good family movie and the Sherman brothers as usual are a hit with their music. It's also believable, family doesn't approve of the choice, etc. It's also from the point of view of the prince and that is a change from other versions. Enjoyed it when it first came out and again recently, it was a treat to see it again!A lovely low-key version of the Cinderella tale - JanDoe
We're big fans of the Sherman brothers' music -- from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to Mary Poppins -- so this is a treat not just for the lovely story and attractive characters, but for the fun songs as well.
Also fun are all the English actors who pop up in the various roles, from Annette Crosbie as the Fairy Godmother to Dame Edith Evans to Kenneth More.
