The War of the Roses
Once in a lifetime comes a motion picture that makes you feel like falling in love again. This is not that movie.
in this blackest of comedies, a perfect 18-year marriage suddenly becomes unglued and the gleefully evil Barbara (Kathleen Turner) and Oliver (Michael) Rose single-mindedly inflict as much misery as possible on each other. Rather than just get divorced, they declare war, fighting to the bitter end over their huge mansion and every possession in it. Not even the calculating guidance of Oliver's lawyer (Danny DeVito) can stop this uncompromising twosome as their vicious battle sends them on an increasingly dark and dangerous path.

Weird... this movie oscillates between drama and comedy, and goes from absurd to moralizing, not really finding its tone and place. You think the movie is getting into some psychological insights when the wife starts explaining her desire for a divorce but that paths doesn't go anywhere. I wasn't able to laugh (is peeing on food supposed to be funny?) or weep (can someone really dangle from a chandelier and really die like that?).When Marriage becomes Sour - movie_goer
Narrated Dark comedy, By Danny Devito who doesn't disapoint. As A Happy married couple Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner star in thier 3rd movie together. What starts with fairy tales, happy greetings, romanitic love. Pops when a old lady dies and they get her mansion dirt cheap. After having 2 childern who are highly obiese. Trouble comes Knocking at the door when the house becomes cold,both kids head off to college. Douglas finds business over pleaser.while Turner fights back in a nasty divorce that becomes brutally fatal.an interesting, funny and odd movie - Lori
This movie is delightful, showing a couple and how their relationship works, and more often, how it doesn't! Having recently gone through a divorce, it helped remind me, in amongst my chuckles, that mine could have been so so much worse! Definitely an interesting movie, and a bit of a thinker too, with lots of black humor, that could be enjoyed by anyone who has been in a relationship before.
