Timecop
Turn back the clock, and you're history.
In the year 2004, time travel is not only a reality, but an opportunity to alter the past for power and profit. Jean-Claude Van Damme stars in the sci-fi thriller that mixes hard-hitting with awesome special effects, romance and murder.

I remember loving this when I was a little kid - Treyrules
but now that I am 26 and rewatched it, I didn't. The action scenes are quite terrible and unrealistic. The camera turns away before we can get any glimpse of connection between the punches and kicks so it looks real fake. And of course there's Van Damme's acting. I know he's an action star but this is a high budget hollywood film. I think he needed some more acting lessons, especially for the romantic scene between him and Mia Sara... I couldn't stop laughing the whole timeFun, Action Packed Movie - fairweather
I found this title as good as any Arnold or Bruce Willis B movies and I like time travel and action, this has both! :) I expected really bad acting from the other reviews, but it was really quite good. The "wooden acting" I think is due to the fact that it is harder to get into his head due to the fact that the lead's English is not flawless (but never a problem to understand), which, once you are used to it, is charming. But since you have to listen so carefully to his English and get past an accent, you cannot always "lose" yourself in the movie character, because you have to be back from it to hear what is being said. I watched it a second time and liked it even better. The not completely logical time travel 'science' in the movie is not a bother if you go into it knowing it isn't fully watertight on the science part, but is just a great action flick with romance and time travel (which I always love) - worth the rent. I can see why they did a Timecop 2.. I think it was good enough to warrant a sequel.Good concept, if not choice of actor - Mikhail
The concept behind the movie is a good one. Someone invents time travel, thus the government must step in and control it. Voila! The Timecop Corp is born.
The storyline is reasonably well put together, and does its best to keep consistent with itself (a challenge in all time travel movies). Issues such as causality (which came first, the cause or the effect) and split-tunnel memories (remembering both sets of histories after changing the past) are not explored here.
Jean Claude does his best to make the movie enjoyable, but isn't quite up to the task. His wooden performance detracts from the show and almost ruins the movie. This is one of those shows where you simply have to ignore the lack of ability of the principal actors and try hard to get into the storyline. If you can't do that, you will probably stop the movie halfway through.
That said, if you can get past the acting (or lack thereof), the show is worth watching. Some of the time-travel events are very fun and are sure to get you thinking "wouldn't it be nice if...". (Which really has always been the main idea in the whole time-travel genre.)
If you are a time-travel fan, or really like watching Jean Claude do the russian splits *again*, pick the show up. If not, take a pass.
Now, if you are a *real* time travel nut, try the movie 'Primer'. You won't be disappointed.
