Stunning, especially on a big screen. - estefan
James Cameron's Titanic completely took the world by storm when it first came out and now, having finally experienced it on the big screen, it's perfectly understandable why. This is a classic cinematic spectacle with a massive scale and Cameron is also very intricate in every single detail. Seeing that ship sail through the seas, it's just incredibly awing. It just looks absolutely stunning and the final hour of the Titanic shipping is one of the greatest displays of effects work that has rarely been topped, even in this age of state-of-the-art visual technology. However, the enjoyment of the film is also in the main romance. Is it unoriginal and slightly corny? Yes, but Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are so likeable and sweet together, that it's easy to get into the romance. It's not hard to be swept away by that iconic scene of the two of them at the front of the ship and James Horner's majestic score is playing. I got so caught up in the story, it's easy to forget it's three hours long and the editing is brisk that at no point, was I thinking "Just hit the iceberg already!" And when seeing the iceberg for the first time, even though you know it's going to happen anyway, I almost felt like shouting at the screen to get out of the way.Titanic is a movie not just to be seen, but to be experienced. - moviemonger
I went into Titanic with trepidation: it is being hailed as one of the best love stories depicted on film. Cynical as I am, I don't think much of movies with a romantic theme to them. However, I was curious to see the spectacle that director James Cameron had created. Fortunately for me, Titanic is not only great in terms of action, effects, and visuals, but also provides excellent commentary on the issue of the class struggle. Short of climbing aboard a time capsule and peeling back eight and one-half decades, James Cameron's magnificent Titanic is the closest any of us will get to walking the decks of the doomed ocean liner. Meticulous in detail, yet vast in scope and intent, Titanic is the kind of epic motion picture event that has become a rarity. You don't just watch Titanic, you experience it -- from the launch to the sinking, then on a journey two and one-half miles below the surface, into the cold, watery grave where Cameron has shot never-before seen documentary footage specifically for this movie. Titanic is a romance, an adventure, and a thriller all rolled into one. It contains moments of exuberance, humor, pathos, and tragedy. In their own way, the characters are all larger-than- life, but they're human enough (with all of the attendant frailties) to capture our sympathy. Perhaps the most amazing thing about Titanic is that, even though Cameron carefully recreates the death of the ship in all of its terrible grandeur, the event never eclipses the protagonists. Titanic has all of the thrills and intensity. A dazzling mix of style and substance, of the sublime and the spectacular, Titanic represents Cameron's most accomplished work to date.Titanic...(sniff) - TheWiz
First things first. Of all movies I have ever seen, this was THE saddest. I mean, I understood the panic and love and everything, but the fact that Jack dies is to much to take! Why they called the Titanic unsinkable beats me. I mean, there is no such thing as unsinkable. Even a bird is sinkable. But when the electricity goes in the water with Jack and Rose in the water, they would have been fried. And Rose's supposedly 'Boyfriend' is a jerk. I mean, you bribe the captain to let you on the life boat, and when he disagree's, you use a child and say you need to take care of it. I mean that is bad.
But other than that, the whole movie was pretty good, and pretty long.
