I thought Treasure Planet was a great movie.
It's exactly what the title says. It's a movie where they search for a planet with a lot of treasure simply put. What I enjoyed the most about this movie was the creativity. The backgrounds, characters, tools, etc. were all something different and original. You could probably just watch the movie on mute if you wanted to because of the interesting designs in this movie. Good fun for the familyStill Not Titan AE - DarkStar
Pretty graphics and good voice acting make this a solid, but not spectacular feel-good, far-future swashbuckling adventure. In true Disney fashion, the rough corners have been removed from this classic tale of coming of age on the high-seas.. ahem, deep space.
Loveable cute characters, a redeemable bad guy, and plenty of comic relief make it a good movie to rent, but not something to watch over and over. If nothing else, rent it to see an animated David Hyde Pierce.
In the way of story and character, it feels a little thin. If you want something of the same vein with better characters and story, go get Titan AE.
Overall, I'd say this movie is showy and sugary like cotton candy, and about as filling.Still a Great Disney Film - bUgs1
The movie had everything I want out of a Disney film. It has a good story filled with warm and human characters; it had some incredible moments where the animation was drop dead gorgeous and most of all, It holds together and it’s very faithful to the original source: Robert Louis Stevenson’s TREASURE ISLAND.
Bottom Line: I think this is a case where you have to look past what the critics and box office grosses say and try the film for yourself. It’s got all the things to make a great story and it’s still a great example of a Disney film, no matter what the naysayers say.
