Underworld

There is a whole lot of style her but not much substance. Well, there actually is a pretty good mythology told here but you have to sit there very confused for the first hour.
The filmakers decided that if they throw you immediately into the middle of the action that you will be so captivated that you will stay interested until the characters begin to explain themselves.
I am not a big fan of this method of storytelling.
About 30 mins into the film, Scott Speedman yells at Kate Beckinsale, "What's going on here? Who are you people?"

It promises plenty of new mythology, updated. Delivered!
It promises plenty of dark and moody style. Delivered!
Why wasn't it more exciting? Memorable? Fun? In fact, to add to the puzzlement, once you go back to it, expecting little, it's a pleasant enough re-watch.
That's it. Expectations. Remember when Star Wars came out? Its ads were brilliant. They made it look like it would be corny light entertainment, so you would buy the ticket but not really expect much. Then, when it was knock-your-hat-off awesome, AND blew past all expectations, you could never forget it.

What happens when a vampire falls in love with a werewolf? All hell breaks loose. A war has raged for centuries and just when the vampires start to feel as though they have the war under control, they discover a secret plot by the werewolves to create a super being. This movie is non-stop action with pretty cool effects. Not the best vampire movie out there. But definitely worth a zip.
