Tomei portrays Caroline, a diner waitress who is consistently (and miserably) unlucky in love. Slater is Adam, the diner's reclusive busboy who harbors a secret crush on Caroline, yet is too shy to speak to her. But all that changes one cold night, when Caroline finds herself in a life-threatening situation on her walk home and Adam appears out of the shadows to rescue her. Intrigued by her unlikely knight in shining armor, Caroline tenderly breaks through to his lonely world. Together, the two forge a bond of trust and understanding that ultimately blossoms into one of cinema's most unforgettable love stories.

love story. Anything with Christian Slater has to be commendable. A story about a shy introvert dish washer who falls in love with the beautiful new waitress. As he grows on her, she discovers he has a bad heart and cannot over exert himself. A little bit of a tear jerker as you can imagine something tragic does happen that changes all their lives forever.Not quite what I had expected - lillybelle75
I really like Christian Slater, but their relationship in the movie went far beyond sweet and jumped right into creepy! I though it was very weird that he watched her sleep before they were together and I would very much like to know how he got that Christmas tree in her room....Romance abounds - Filmgal
Untamed Heart is one of those films that I can (and have) watched numerous times. It's the classic boy meets girl story but this time the boy is the mysterious Christian Slater as Adam, an orphan who belives that he has a baboon heart. After rescuing Caroline from would-be rapists, Caroline sees her quiet and shy co-worker in a new light. By shopwing him the ropes of romance, Adam comes out of his quiet shell for the first time in his life. Comedy, drama, and romance are thrown into the story as their relationship develops.
It's great to see the romance unfold between Slater and Marisa Tomei in the film.
Rosie Perez is in the supporting role to provide comic relief in what is sometimes a heavy and sad film. The film doesn't appear to be too dated yet adn the story remains strong.
Get your kleenex out, as this one is for any romantic.
