Varsity Blues
Make Your Own Rules
James Van Der Beek leads the action in this exciting, funny coming-of-age story about a small-town high schooler confronting the pressures and temptations and gridiron glory.
At first, backup quarterback Jonathan "Mox" Moxon (Van Der Beek) is nowhere close to being a football star. He's perfectly content to stay on the bench and out of the win-at-all-cost strategies of coach Bud Kilmer (Jon Voight in a powerful performance). But when the starting quarterback is injured, Mox is in the game...and in direct conflict with his hotheaded coach and girlfriend. Soon everyone in Mox's football-crazed community will realize there's not just a new star quarterback in town, there's a new kind of hero.

Why have I never seen this movie?! My husband was raving on and on about this movie with a friend one night, and I just stared on confused! I haven't a clue why I hadn't seen this wonderful sports movie before. With a strong cast, a strong storyline who couldn't love this story about friendship, football and love? Highly recommended if you like movies such as Invinsible and Remember the Titans!Good sports movie - anwallette
This movie is very typical Deep South American with its relationship that football and everything tied to football is god-like.
This follows the story of "Mox" who never wanted to be a football star, but was pushed into it by his father. He became the star when his best friend's kneed gave out.
Mox is forced to make some hard decision and together with his team, they make a difference in a town obsessed with the sport...fun sports movie - outlander78
This is a fun movie about a football team in Texas. I first watched it with a large group during my college days, and we we're literally cheering during the sports scenes – it's that kind of movie. As far as I can tell, every last sports movie cliche is on display here, but the movie is well done and very entertaining. Enjoy!
