Vertical Limit
Hold Your Breath
K2, a 28,250-foot mountain in Pakistan's Karakoram Range, is the setting for this adrenaline-pumping action-adventure. It's a race against time when a retired mountain climber (Chris O'Donnell) leads a rescue mission to save his estranged sister (Robin Tunney) and other members of her team who have become trapped on K2 after a deadly avalanche.
Martin Campbell, the celebrated directed of The Mask Of Zorro and GoldenEye, delivers high-voltage action and exhilarating suspense in a film that pits man against his own limitations and the awesome power of nature's uncontrollable elements.

THIS FILM REALLY SHOWED HOW SO MANY PEOPLE CAN SHARE A COMMON AMBITION, YET TOO SCARED TO DO THE RIGHT THING. CHRIS O'DONNELL PLAYS PETER WHO AFTER MAKING A DESCISION THAT NO ONE WANTS TO EVER MAKE WHILE ON A VERTICAL CLIMB, FINDS HIS SISTER ANNIE WHO WAS ON THE SAME CLIMB ATTEMPTING TO HELP GUIDE A RICH THRILL SEEKER (PAXTON) REACH THE TOP OF K2. WHEN THEY FAIL TO TURN BACK DUE TO WEATHER PETER PLEADS WITH FELLOW CLIMBERS TO FORM A RESCUE GROUP TO REACH THE ONES TRAPPED. AWESOME VIEWS AND THEY DISPLAYED THE REAL DANGERS QUITE WELL AND MAKES YOU FEEL YOU ARE ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT. DON'T WANT TO RUIN IT BUT THERE IS MUCH MORE TO THE CLIMB THAN EVERYONE REALIZES. GOOD RENTAL BUT AFTER WATCHING 1 TIME YOU WON'T REALLY BOTHER WITH IT AGAIN UNLESS YOU ARE A ROCK CLIMBER.K2 is the star of this one - Widdershins
Movies of this genre are a) predictable, and b)keep you on the edge of your seat.
It has the same kind of hero who's had to make a horrible choice (three or five years previously, depending on the movie) the perky and courageous female sidekick, and the nasty snarling egotistic bad-guy as does that other recent mountain scenery spectacular starring Sylvester Stallone. But in this movie K2 wins out over the Rockies. It's the true star and dwarfs all else.
Chris O'Donnell does well as the hero, much better than in his Batman movies, and Scott Glenn plays Scott Glenn, the strong silent type who gets the job done.
All in all, a great adrenaline hit for a rainy Sunday with popcorn.Let's go climbing - M.O.D
Wow. I remembered this film when it was first released and, although predictable, it still kept my wife and I a=on the edge of our seat. I liked it because it was a simple movie. I know, I know; Chris O'Donnell can't act, but I knew that before watching this movie. Luckily it had Bill Paxton to save the acting, cuz I loved to hate him. He was a pompous ass through and through but he played it well.
I would recommend this movie if you like to shut off your brain and enjoy the ride.
