They came for gold. But now they'll settle for indoor plumbing.
When Phil Taylor (Lewis) and his family decide that the Old West is not what it's cracked up to be, they take the entire town of Prosperity with them. Led by the wagon master Harlow (Candy), they begin the heroic, backbreaking, danger-filled journey back... East! Along the way, they must survive Indians, hired guns, each other and Harlow's terrible secret. Because when the going gets tough, the tough go back home!

Classic Candy - FieroGT
This is a good movie to any John Candy fan. It is too bad he died while making this film and I did enjoy it. If you like westerns and you like John's style then this is well worth the rental. There are no really spectacular effects here just a good comedy and some really good snappy one liners. Laughter is goodwagons east - LILREDPT
A great movie if you love irony....those that don't like it don't know history or comedy! John Candy was a brilliant leader and well what about the nervous jew in the west and the the gay man in san fran!
It's well done and they peiced together this film just great

John Candy struggles valiantly (as do some of the others) but there is nothing to save this stinker
Honestly just the fact that this was Candy's last film helps drive up interest, but one has to wonder if it starred anyone else would we even bother
