Wilde
"Two thumbs up!" -Siskel & Ebert
Brilliant, egocentric and completely unique, Oscar Wilde (Stephen Fry) defied convention on almost every level. While coming to terms with his newfound sexual identity, he also experienced his most creative period, resulting in some of his best known works. As his literary career flourished, the self-realization of his homosexuality caused Wilde enormous torment as he juggled marriage, fatherhood and responsibility with his obsessive love for Lord Alfred Douglas (Jude Law). It is this passionate and stormy relationship which consumed and ultimately destroyed him.
Featuring a brilliant supporting cast including Jennifer Ehle, Academy Award®-winner Vanessa Redgrave and Tom Wilkinson as Wilde's chief adversary the Marquesss of Queensberry.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I began watching this film but I was suprised at the acting and a historical and tragic tale of a very influencial writer that I have read many works from and enjoyed growing up.
All the characters and events in this movie seemed very real and accurate though I wasn't familiar with Oscar Wilde's story before but now I want to read a well written book of his life.
Great acting, Jude Law made a very convincing gay man.Excellent film! - Muggins
Simply spot on casting here with Stephen Frye as the literary genius Oscar Wilde and a terrific early look at Jude Law in a role that he certainly does justice to. The rest of the cast was impeccably chosen as well. No one does it quite like the Brits do when it comes to putting historical masterpieces like this on film!
Certainly not for everyone but I give it 4 stars!Wilde - Elise
This is a beautiful film - the sets, the costumes, the props and the acting are a feast.
Stephen Frye plays Wilde with all the élan and hauteur one could hope for. At no time did I have the impression that he was speaking a script, so fluent is his grasp of the laungauge of Wilde. It was as though he were made for this part.
Jude Law plays a deliciously despicable Bosie (Wilde's lover and the root of his downfall). The rest of the cast is impeccable as well, Gemma Jones especially stands out as Lady Queensbury.
The love scenes between men some might find a little shocking
