In The Mood For Love
Hong Kong, 1962: Chow Mo-wan and Su Li-zhen move into neighboring apartments on the same day. Their encounters are polite and formal - until a discovery about their respective spouses sparks an intimate bond. At once delicately mannered and visually stunning, Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood For Love is a masterful evocation of romantic longing and fleeting moments in time.

This foreign movie has everything I am looking for in a foreign movie. It looks great, good performances, it's interesting, set in the past. I felt very cultural and sophisticated when I watched it and immediately told my friends that I had achieved the act of watching it. It's on a bunch of top 100 movies of all time lists, so even though they hadn't seen it, they pretended that they had and told me that they also appreciated it. I wish it had more nudity but that is a minor gripe. In The Mood For Love - Liz-
Poetic, graceful and sad - this movie is practically a tone poem.
Two couples are related by lies (i.e. an affair). When their respective spouses realize what is going on and talk; the respective spouse's slow gentle tumble into love is resisted by both.
Definitely NOT a Hollywood movie.
Lovely and sad - I give it three and a half stars.
It also(as a bonus)has great music.Gorgeous. - whitenoise
A powerful study in emotional restraint. Using lavish, striking cinematography, Wong Kar-Wai tells a tale of repressed love and longing with intensity and subtlety. The musical score (with Yo-Yo Ma) will haunt you long after the curtain comes down and some images (the steps to the noodle house, amongst others) will imprint themselves in your memory.
So effectively manipulative as to almost be frustrating, In The Mood For Love is an emotional powerhouse that will warrant a second and even third viewing.
A beautiful but sad affair that will make you sigh with envy.
A must-see.
