The first half an hour feels like a CBC made-for-TV-film. Imagine! The actors are not convincing – their accents are weird. The movie gets better. The fighting between the Jewish and German is interesting. I find it curious that the Germans were not able to kill the Jewish fighting organization right away – the Germans seemed to have enough fighting power to do so. Overall, the story holds the movie together. Now, I would like to see the German side of the story.Uprising - TwoBoggySwampers
You don't want to miss this one. It's an extremely well made film on the plight of the Jews in Warsaw, Poland, during WWII as the Nazis were occupying and sending Jewish people to concentration camps and gas chambers. The film incorporates actual footage taken at that time, is based on eyewitness accounts, and portrays the real life freedom fighters that took on the Nazis in an effort to regain their lives and carry on their culture. What ensues are several planned and successful attacks on the Nazis by the Jews, which most often became head-to-head bloody battles in the streets. Between their attacks, the Jewish people were forced to live in war-torn buildings, secret underground bunkers, and eventually in the sewer system beneath the streets. It is horrific to see what actually happened to these people as they struggled to survive the German forces - but, at the same time, it is uplifting to see the strength, the spirit, and the pride that the Jewish people had and just how far they were willing to go to fight for themselves and their cause. A truly eye-opening and emotional movie experience that shouldn't be missed.
