A surprisingly entertaining picture as a sexy Nicole Kidman plays a Russian mail-order bride! The lucky fellow who is actually turned into a victim in the film is played by Ben Chaplin, a boring bank teller in a dead-end job. But underneath lurk some sexual fantasies that are eventually explored. But things run amok with the arrival of two Russian cousins! And so does the story which remains entertaining but becomes somewhat silly. The quality and contrast between the performances of Kidman and Chaplin make it worthwhile!Better than rated... - Bboy
A great film, I never saw it coming. Nicole K. does such a Russina accent you have no hesitation beleing she is Russian. It's got it all, a real plot (missing from most films these days), suspense, action, romance, excellent acting, what else do you need, rent it!First Half of the movie shines - bUgs1
enjoyed the first half of the movie. As always Ms. Kidaman's performance is worthy. her portrayal as a Russian mail order bride was very convincing, as were her co-stars who played Russians (actually French actors).
About halfway through the film the story starts to lose it's focus and slowly decends into a ridiculous farce. I really found it annoying when the characters are speaking Russian and there are no subtitles! You don't know what the hell they're talking about. Watching the extra features I thought might explain the reason for this, but none were given.
Only watch this if you are a Nicole Kidman fan. Definitely a rental. Oh, and the extra features were weak-just a 10 minutes behind the scene look and a music video featuring Nicole & Robbie Williams singing the classic: Something Stupid
