Renaissance Man & the Iron Chef kick ass! - Chintease
This film isn't half bad. It has action, mystery, true events, the Iron Chef (Mark Dacascos) and best of all, it mentions Canada, Québec and Acadians! The film gets at least two stars in my books for admitting that Canada exists. The only painful part of this film is that the ending is easy to guess; however, if you like your thinking man action movies to transition from mysterious to obvious, well Sir, this film's for you! "Allez Tué!"A Real Shocker - PhoenixBC
When this movie was released in theatres a buddy of mine called me up to go see this "really cool martial arts movie." Of course when I found out it was a french period piece and subtitled on top of it I was torn between admitting him to a mental hospital and giving him a good smack.
Turns out that he was right. It was a very good martial arts movie with plenty of action. It also had a story that was very interesting and well put together. Overall a very nice surprise and well worth the price of admission. A very good rental pick with something for everyone. One of the best films you've never heard of... - Frank_Ricard
As a starting point, the viewer has to understand that this is a mix of true events and a very healthy dose of fantasy.
If one can sit back and suspend disbelief and simply enjoy the film, it is captivating and enjoyable from beginning to end.
A cult classic that shouldn't be missed.
