Great fun and well worth a look. It is destined to become one of Spielberg's best films - moviemonger
Catch Me If You Can is a terrific movie that follows the life of an incredible teenage con man, that is based on the true life story of Frank Abagnale played by Leonard DiCaprio. We follow Frank, as he sets up all sorts of imaginative cons, ranging from pretending to be an airline pilot, expertly forging checks to making money when he sleeps with prostitutes. This is simply a great movie and lots of fun and will probably be somewhat of an overlooked film when people reflect on Steven Spielberg's long career. The movie is so well executed in every category, ranging from its strong script, great direction and its acting performances. The acting, by DiCaprio borders on great and Tom Hanks, who has been going through the motions for years, is passable as the Agent who is obsessed with catching the bright, young Frank. The film's success is in part due to the name recognition of Spielberg, DiCaprio and Hanks, but much credit must also be given to the intelligent and fun script. It is a great study of a cunning character and a great cat and mouse game. If you have somehow missed this film, then you will not be disappointed for it is a wonderful ride.Fascinating Story - newdaysof
It's fun to watch DiCaprio play a very young con-artist who defrauds bank after bank with bogus cheques. It feels a bit like Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. In this case, his father was driven into bankruptcy by the IRS.
Directed by Stephen Spielberg and co-starring Tom Hanks (why does Spielberg ALWAYS have Tom Hanks in his movies?!) Anyway, Tom Hanks is a good actor and does well playing the FBI agent trying to catch up to DiCaprio's character.
Overall, a very fun film to watch, with many twists and turns and quite a few good laughs. There are also several serious moments when we see the vulnerability of DiCaprio's character. And just when he is thrown in jail and sentenced to 12 years, you think the movie is over, and there is yet another twist! Beautiful.~ DiCAPRIO MARVELLOUS IN THIS CAPTIVATING FILM ~ 4 1/4 Stars ~ - SqueakyChair
SNAPSHOT: Bright brilliant film. Light-hearted for the most part. A delightful look into a deeply disturbed mind. You'll find yourself cheering for the bad guy in this one. A must see movie.
MORE THOUGHTS: This movie is made all the more pleasurable for knowing that it is a true story and that the real protagonist was on the set advising the director all the way. The bonus material was also fascinating to listen to the real Abagnale. This version of Abagnale's life is much more credible than the much earlier Tony Curtis version, The Great Impostor [not yet avail. to ZIP]; although that was also charming in it's off-based depiction.
Might i suggest from ZIP.ca
