Knockaround Guys
"Knockaround Guys packs plenty of cold-blooded firepower!" -Larry Ratliff, St. Antonio Express-News
When you're in the mob, there's no room for mistakes or feelings. Matty (Barry Pepper) finds this out the hard way when his crew loses a bag of cash in a remote town in the Midwest while trying to live up to his mob boss father's aspirations (Dennis Hopper). When Matty's childhood friend Marbles (Seth Green) fails to retrieve the money, his best friend Taylor (Vin Diesel) hatches a plan to get it back, but crooked cops control the town and the situation quickly spirals out of control.
Uncle Teddy (John Malkovich) rolls into town to fix the situation and to teach Matty once and for all what being "in the family" is all about. The trap is set and when it's sprung, it's as action-packed as it is devastating.

While the film stars a strong ensemble, the film suffers from mediocre performances across the board and poor writing. Additionally, the editing and cinematography shots could've been more daring and fast paced, especially when it comes to fight scenes and pacing. Generic music fills in the gaps to churn out a let down motion picture. Every actor would go on the better things. Out of the group, Barry Pepper turns in a strong, reliable performance, but not enough to save this film. Not Bad ... But Not Great Either - sinic
I wasn't expecting much when the DVD started, but I have to say that this was one of those movies where I didn't realize that the 90 or so minutes passed by. I was fairly entertained by the story and the acting was decent. I was initially attracted to the movie because of John Malkovich, but I must say that it was *gasp* Vin Diesel that stole the show here. Overall, I would recommend this movie to people, like me, that enjoy gangster flicks and the politics that apparently go on in the back rooms ...Knockaround Guys - TwoBoggySwampers
This is a good gangster flick - with a twist. Instead of only hanging around the streets of New York, a few of the guys have to go to a small town in Montana to do some business. There, the Sheriff becomes involved, causing a ripple in their plans. The rest is typical gangster material. You don't know who is going to do what to whom or how much they really care about each other. The acting was great and the story was interesting. I'd recommend it to anybody who likes stories about the mob.
