Kevin Kline pulls off an average performance in the lead as do most of the actors, with maybe the exception of Kristen Scott Thomas and Jena Malone. But, he does enough to get the job done. It's the storyline and the screenplay writer who makes this a rememberable film. Adults will find something in this movie that will reel you into the story. Too many real life situations to not find at least one incident that you can identify with. A funny, witty, intelligent and touching movie on the meaning of life and the journey we all must make sooner or later. I do not suggest this for family viewing. This relatively obscure movie is a perfect gem! It is an example of the modern, dysfunctional family and the resulting hurts that are passed down from the imperfect people who make up a family.
It is a movie about many issues that people face -- regret, love lost, the emptiness of a fast-paced, materialistic world in which most of us live, and ultimately, death.
But, it is not a pessimistic film...instead, this movie gives us hope of a better life if we incorporate purpose (even a simple one) and make friends and family our priority.
This is a wonderfully engaging diamond-in-the-rough movie which has, within its core, an eternal message of love, life, sentimentality, and friendship.

This is such a great movie! It is inspirational and also a tear-jerker. Can watch over and over! The actors and actresses are amazing! This movie has a strong storyline and is very easy to understand. I have no negitive comments about this wonderful movie! Would recommend to anyone!
