Minority Report
"Two thumbs way up! A masterpiece." - Ebert & Roper
Superstar Tom Cruise gives his "most potent action performance" (David Ansen, Newsweek) in director Steven Spielberg's Minority Report.
For six years, Washington D.C. has been murder free thanks to astounding technology which identifies killers before they commit their crime. But when the chief of the Precrime Unit (Cruise) is himself accused of a future murder, he has just 36 hours to discover who set him up- or he'll fall victim to the "perfect" system he helped create. It's a mind-blowing action thriller that's such an achievement it "reminds us why we go to the movies in the first place" (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times).

I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan but this movie is great. Its got plenty of action, thought provoking plot line without crossing the line into preachiness.
I've always been a huge fan of PKD and I'm happy that Spielberg re-writes his stuff for the screen (if you were to take PKD's stories literally they would not make great movies, not unlike Stephen King)
Colin Farrell isn't a big letdown either (I still havent forgiven Phonebooth, I should have gone to the precogs for that one)

This movie is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Not only does Steven Spelberg beautifly use his vision of the future to entice us but actually has Tom Cruise give one of the best performaces of his life. The story is awesome start to finish(something not too many sci-fi movies can say). I can watch this one over and over again.Eerie - dural78
This is an excellent movie that examines the virtues of free will versus predetermination. Tom Cruise plays a cop who arrests people based on murders they are about to commit in the near future. 3 "pre-cogs" working for the pre-crime division are able to see the murders in the future, and it is up to Tom Cruise to piece together the clues to stop the crime from ever happening.
The movie effectively debates whether the mere fact of seeing a future event predetermines its outcome. Ultimately we have freedom of choice, but does the occurrence of our future action undermine that choice?
It's a very interesting premise, and an excellent movie.
