Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Sequel to Terminator. Skynet, the 21st century computer waging a losing war on humans sends a second terminator back in time to destroy the leader of the human resistance while he is still a boy. His mother is the only one who knows of the existence of the Terminators, human-like robots that exist only to kill and are nearly indestructible, and Sarah, the boy's mother is currently in a state mental hospital because of her 'delusions'. A second protector is sent back to the past by the Human resistance to protect John Connor, their future leader, at all costs.

I don't why the film works so well, but it does. The acting is okay but it's the characters and story that make it so great I guess. Also, the idea of machines taking over was introduced to me in this film as a kid, so maybe that's why it really stuck out for me. I see other tales with the same premise and they're good but nothing that really sticks with me like T2.An iconic piece of SF entertainment - JustinM
James Cameron's sequel to his original Terminator film is one of the few sequels to exceed the original.
Sara Connor and her son John are visited by a new model of the time travelling robot that tried to kill her in the first film, but this time he's there to protect her from an even more advanced model. A tight script, strong performances from even just okay performers, and ground breaking FX that still stand up strong make this film one for the ages. In the words of Arnold, Do It, Do It Now.Terminator 2: Judgment Day - djfunkybob
The second installment is widely regarded as the best of the franchise and I would tend to agree. Cameron broke new ground with the visuals and sound to the point that this film became the new standard. Schwarzenegger was back to reprise (sort of) his Terminator role, but it was Hamilton and Patrick whose performances remain memorable. Hamilton transformed Sarah Connor into a buff, self-reliant leader. Patrick was frightening with his calm speech, cool demeanor, and specific movements, such as his responses to being hit by shotgun shells or simply the way he ran. The final battle is the highlight of the film as you attempt to predict the seemingly invincible enemy’s fate and root for the impossible demise of the threat facing mankind. The only blemish is the all-too-cute relationship between a young John Connor and his protector that reinforced the importance of humanity, but deviated from the no-nonsense approach of both Sarah Connor and the relentless pursuer.
