Very action packed, but that's it - Silverthorn
I felt Blade was pretty good action sequences, but with everything else, this falls flat. Other than great action sequences, there isn't really a story or character you can really get into or like. However, many can just watch action scenes and like a film. To me, you can have great action scenes, but a little more on story and character will make a normal action movie a good one. I don't think this had it. However, it did spawn a few sequels so it did generate enough interest. If you want something more than just action, then I would suggest skipping this one.Cutting Edge! - UprootedNewfy
Although I am a huge follower of the Vampire lore, I was a little skeptical with this movie. I have passed over the rental many times at the local video store. Due to the convenience and value associated with zip.ca, I took a chance! And I am not disappointed!
The plot is very similar to other more recent movies of the genre, in that the Vampires (or one of their kind) wish to use their ancient powers to rule the world! And behold there is one, a 'hybrid' who is the only hope! Sounds cliche, but wait.
The use of modern medicine methods, new twists on the anti-vampire ammo, and the use of martial arts gives the movie a chance to appeal to more than the 'gothic vampire' fans.
This movie is action packed from the start, while still sexy and true to much of the Vampire lore.
Worth a watch. I will rent the second!Awesome - bUgs1
Snipes was born for roles like this. He brings his trademark dark sense of humor to the role. He knows he is the baddest guy in town and he truly enjoys being able to overcome impossible odds during his battles. Blade is presented as just plain cool. Snipes commands the screen in every scene. He has an undisputed presence that will captivate the viewer. He is more than an action hero, he can actually act and present a multidimensional character tha will hold your interest even during the usually mundane expository scenes. Kristofferson is perfectly cast as the crusty old mentor. He projects a sadness to the character that tells more about Whistler than any amount of dialogue could provide. This is after all an intelligent actor. He has had a great career in music ad now is taking on character roles and making them into realistic presentations. Dorff is perfectly evil as Frost. Yet, there is an almost honorable side to his character. He wants his kind to reign supreme over beings he views as little more than a food supply. He is willing to go against the leaders of the vampire nation to further this goal.
