Robert Altman would not be impressed. - RobBC
Michael Radford's improvised ensemble piece follows the loves, losses and heartbreaks of a group of strippers working in a sleazy L.A. dive. Among the familiar names are Darryl Hannah playing a gullible airhead, Jennifer Tilley overacting her heart out as a histrionic party tramp and Sandra Oh as the lap-dancer with brains (she writes poetry in between gyrations). Radford's clumsy attempts to portray his female leads as more than just boobs and a g-string simply downgrade them to a gaggle of neurotic stereotypes. The music is adequate, the dancing mechanical and the emotional depths shallow indeed.Boring, moralistic tripe - Igor
You might think that an R-rated film about strippers would be bound to have something fapworthy in it, but you'd be wrong - there is nothing in the tiniest bit erotic about Dancing At The Blue Iguana. It's a bleak little feminist propaganda film which not even Jennifer Tilly in a kinky leather get-up with her bountiful milkers hanging out could save. Avoid. Not much for pole moves - Oceanity
Despite Shelia Kelley promoting this movie and linking her S factor workout videos with it, the viewer won't see much for pole moves. This movie has a interesting story, a glimpse into the stripper's lives at and away from the club. Rent this if you enjoy seeing skin, rent a Poleworks 101 if you intend to learn exotic dance moves.
