Jerry Seinfeld: Comedian
"Fascinating and very funny." -Jack Mathews, New York Daily News
Jerry Seinfeld is a working stand-up comic again. Comedian is a candidly revealing, intimately observed and often very funny look at what it takes to be a comedian. On-stage, Jerry delivers his hilarious brand of observational humor. Off-stage, he struggles with difficult material, confronts self-doubt, revels in small successes and accepts help and support from friends and colleagues, including Colin Quinn, Ray Romano, Chris Rock, Garry Shandling, Jay Leno and Bill Cosby. Comedian also discovers the sharp wit of rising young comic Orny Adams-outspoken, insecure and fanatical about becoming the "next big thing". What emerges are two fascinating journeys by two contrasting personalities who have some surprising parallels.

Great look at comedy but not so much the real deal. What I mean is Jerry already made it so it's really about him getting back to his roots. It would be more interesting to see a guy start doing comedy right from the start and see where he goes. But it would be awkward going around with a camera crew to each club.Documentary; not comedy - ChrisHJ
This film is not funny - rather it takes the viewer backstage inside the art and business of standup comedy.
As someone who is interested in the inner workings of an art form, I thought it was an excellent documentary. I particularly appreciated the lightness of the editorial hand: rather than being bludgeoned with "a moral" (e.g. "comedy isn't pretty"), the viewer is left to draw their own conclusions about the comedy business and about the comedians that are the focus of the film.
Highly recommended. You have to respect this comic! - canadiankaty
Alright well this movie was way better than I had expected. The whole thing, for me, probed very in-depth into the process of becoming a great comedian. I am sure that many people just think that these comedians go up on stage and "make up" material - this movie shows that indeed they don't. Creating material is a painstaking process, which makes you appreciate the comics in the movie all the more.
By the end of the movie, I also had intense respect for Jerry Seinfeld himself because he emulates the typical qualities of a highly successful person. I am sure that if Tony Robbins were to watch this movie, he would point out Jerry's almost narrow-minded focus on his goals. His talent seems so natural, so it is a real eye-opener to see just how much hard work is involved.
Fascinating, especially if you loved Seinfeld's sitcom.
