In the 1970's, Dickie Roberts (David Spade) held the keys to success as a child star with a hit TV series. Now the only keys Dickie holds are the ones that start the customer's cars that he parks as a valet attendant for a Hollywood restaurant.
Desperate to revive his acting career, Dickie tries to audition for a role in Rob Reiner's new movie but the director doesn't believe Dickie is normal enough to play the part. Determined to get his role, Dickie hires a "typical" family to give him the real-life upbringing he never had. But once Dickie moves in, the family's life becomes anything but normal, as Dickie unleashes his wild inner child... and learns in the process some unforgettable lessons about fame, fortune and true family values.
Co-starring Mary McCormack, Jon Lovitz, Alyssa Milano, and many former child stars including Danny Bonaduce, Barry Williams and Leif Garrett.

dickie roberts is hilarious. if i were a child i would want to be like him. but i'm not. so i can't. but i am considering reliving my childhood. it was a nice family movie. nothing over the top vulgor or sexual. katys says: i liked it! and to boot, she quotes it all the time. it's a movie we could watch over and over and over agian, oh wait, she has! meant for younger teens to be hilarious but i thought it was alright~ DAVID SPADE DISAPPOINTS AS USUAL Spade Crap BUT MOVIE IS SORT OF 3/4 lame-1/4OK ~ 1 1/2 Stars ~ - SqueakyChair
SNAPSHOT: Lacks depth. Doesn't quite become the feel-good movie it was intended. David Spade lacks sincerity in his performance and, well, just can't act worth a sh!t. Supporting cast is decent. A passable movie that could have been much better.
MORE THOUGHTS: The best thing about it is the large ensemble of real former child stars who sing the shows final song as the credits roll beside them.
