The numbers don't lie, but the players just might.
Money changes everything - and everyone... in this riveting psychological thriller from writer/director Jeff Probst and featuring a fine ensemble cast. After Tepper (Erik Palladino) finds a wallet, he contacts the owner. But when the lottery ticket inside inside is worth $6 million, all bets are off. The stakes are raised as Tepper and his poker buddies (Matthew Lillard, Ryan Reynolds) bet lottery tickets in their weekly poker games. They match wits with the wallet's owner (James Earl Jones) in a tense game of "Last Man Standing." Does anyone besides Tepper know about the winning ticket? And how far will they go to get it? There's only one sure thing: On a $6 million playing field, greed is the ultimate leveler.

Is it any wonder that Jeff Probst, host of Survivor, would pen his first film by delving into the murky waters of what money can make people do, to strangers, and to friends alike?
I was intrigued to see what deep insights all those years of watching Survivor contestants might give him, and you know what? This is a pretty good effort.
Landing James Earl Jones, and a pre-famous Ryan Reynolds (this was actually his first film) certainly didn't hurt, but it's the writing that shines here......for the most part.
This starts off slow, and there were some problems with the plot, particularly at the end (Probst tacks on an unforgivable last minute twist that makes no sense whatsoever), but this definitely took some twists and turns that I wasn't expecting, and what seems like a boring, predictable film at the outset, becomes something much more by the end.
As others have mentioned, this lends itself well to a stage play, putting all the characters in one room over one night, and depending almost entirely on dialogue, which rings true. I recognized these guys.
At first, I thought one was such an obnoxious jerk, there's no way these guys would hang out with him, but I realized that's how it is with groups of friends who have known each other for years - you tolerate the jerk, because he's part of your group, and you're used to him. I believed these guys had been friends for years.
Not bad at all for a first time effort. I'm intrigued to see Probst's next film, which I've read he's working on.great movie - billie
Fabulous film. I had no idea Jeff Probst was so talented. This seems like a stage play that someone filmed, I loved it that it was low budget. It is wonderfully written, and the characters were all very credible. I was totally surprised at the end, I must say. In fact, I was totally surprised a couple of times in this very fine and twisty movie.Good Movie - CluePot
If you like character-driven movies then you'll love this one. The whole movie takes place in the same room, so the suspense, action, and humour is all created by the interaction of the different personalities of the characters - no hollywood effects here. Mostly good acting aside from a few unrealistic moments.
