Beyond Borders
In A Place She Didn't Belong, Among People She Never Knew, She Found A Way To Make A Difference.
A pampered life in London collides with the stark realities of poverty and hunger in the world's most dangerous hot spots in Beyond Borders, a sweeping romantic adventure starring Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie (Lara Croft Tomb Raider).
While attending a fundraising gala, Sarah Jordan (Jolie), a naive, married American socialite living in England, witnesses a fiery plea delivered by an intruder-a renegade humanitarian, Dr. Nick Callahan (Clive Owen, The Bourne Identity). His plea, made on behalf of impoverished African children under his care, turns Sarah's life upside down. Attracted to Nick and his cause, she impulsively abandons her sheltered life in England to work along side him in his effort to aid the helpless and anguished victims.
As Sarah's work takes her to these volatile areas, where few people have traveled and even fewer have survived, she discovers the harsh realities she encounters-and her growing attraction to the charismatic, unpredictable doctor-ignite in her a passion for saving lives...while risking her own in the process.

This movie is somewhat underrated. It brings to life the situations of the world to our insulated minds.
Well thought out, well acted and very meaningful. I highly recommend this movie, but not if you're depressed, because you're going to feel even worse about the world.
A reflection of our own humanity and particularly of our failings. It's the events that are important - unfotog
True, the story and chemistry between the main characters is weak. However, the film has some passionate and emotional scenes that bring past distant news clips back into the present and reminds us that humans are all connected. Past social and political apathy by developed nations has allowed us to mostly ignore horrific world events and human rights abuses in other nations. This movie raises many issues about the challenges of encouraging international aid and then actually distributing it to where it is needed.
For those who romanticize the jobs of foreign aid workers, this movie will help to open your eyes.A Real Tribute to Relief Workers Around the World... - DBZ4LIFEMM
This was a great film! How anyone else can say otherwise is beyond me... I think it is a fine tribute to relief workers and others around the world who both in the present and in the past have risked their lives (and I am sure many a time their sanity) trying to lend a hand in hopeless, horrible places and situations (where people are starving to death, or are displaced because of war, or are dying of preventative diseases, etc. etc. etc.) Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen are spectacular, and portray very well the constant obstacles and risks involved with just SIMPLY TRYING TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED AROUND THE WORLD (whether it be trying to acquire funding from rich and powerful people and countries, or having to negotiate with warlords and governments just to get supplies through, etc., etc.). The movie is never "over-the-top" or "unrealistic" and stays very grounded and real throughout the whole thing. ABSOLUTELY A "10" ON ANY SCALE!
