The original 1974 movie is beyond compare, this one has more graphic scenes and is much higher on the gore factor but it still doesn't hold a candle to the original in terms of suspense.
The plot has several changes from the original that detracts from everything and there is no point.
Nothing really stood out for me in this movie, just your typical slasher type movie. In fact I paused it a few times because it kind of drags. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - ezza
Wow this flick is far better than the original. I think because it is modernized with actual crazy special effects.
It's a story of some kids on the way home from Mexico. On the way back they encounter trouble and a whole lot of trouble. One thing leads to the next, where they end up on the run from some weird and crazy family. I won't go into too much detail to ruin the plot but it's definately a movie you should have on your zip list.
The original is great (cult classic for sure) but the new version takes the original and beyond!
A must see for horror fans!!!Only a Little Abysmal - 5_foot_hurricane
I had serious reservations even wanting to see this when I first saw the trailers for it. To me, the original TCM was a pioneer of its day - it was perfectly, what the Blair Witch Project had only hoped to achieve (and in my opinion, had failed with such spectacular glory). It was raw, it was grainy, and by God, for a few minutes you could actually worry about the crazies that might really live in Texas, while watching it.
So the concept of remaking it with glossy, actually attractive people irked me for a few years, and I refused to see it.
I won't lie, I was biased going into the entire thing. I was sure it was going to be terrible, and I sat back with smug glee, thinking of all the rotten things I could tell people about it later. The beginning was what actually looked like authentic police-filed crime-scene footage, and I held my breath in hopes that the rest of the film would not be shot like that. Luckily there was no gasping for air when it cut to a very clean and well-filmed opening sequence.
I attempted for a very long time to make a nasty face at the screen and try to find any tiny mistake with the picture, and finally gave up while watching a drenched Jessica Biel scrambling through a meat locker in that little white top. When the film was nearing completion, I was FURIOUS - how dare they sexify my gritty awful deliciously gory TCM? How dare they make the leading men devilishly attractive, and the leading ladies scantily vivacious? How dare they gloss it up and polish it over and mock me while I secretly enjoyed it?
The story line, to me, was vastly improved upon for the remake of TCM. They took away the fat kid in the wheelchair and replaced him with a scrawny, almost-square college boy, who truly annoyed the hell out of me until he had his glasses knocked off with the shatter of a bottle of Southern Comfort against his jaw. They made the girls hot, shapely, practically naked; they gave one of them an actual lead role and the
