The Idol (L'Idole)
You can't keep your eye off her watching her. Watching her becomes an obsession.
In an old Parisian apatment block, Zao, an elderly refined Chinese man, crosses paths with Sarah a troubled young Australian actress, who has just moved in, across the hallway. The day she reveals her plans for a vengeful suicide, he proposes a pact; to cook for her until the fateful date. And so begins an embiguous and subtly erotic friendshipo, under the ever watchful and envious eyes of the other inhabitants who do their best to disrupt this mystifying relationship.

Good Chinese Food Missing - Jekkara
I saw this movie at the Toronto International Film Festival and my memories of it were quite positive.
The two main characters were balanced ... charming old Chinese gourmet chef, whinny young anorexic actress.
However, most of the scenes dealing with the preparation and serving of the food seem to be cut from the version Zip has in store leaving the movie rather empty because the focus is now the vacuous life of the actress.
I don't know if there are two version of this movie around. If that is the case, try to get a hold of an unedited copy.
Failing that, watch insted "Like Water for Chocolate" or "Eat Drink Man Woman".
