A Problem With Fear
Or Laurie's Anxiety Confronting the Elevator
Laurie Harding is afraid of everything: elevators, escalators, crossing the street, spaghetti (or any red sauce) and, of course, intimacy. This makes him the perfect consumer for Global Safety Inc's revolutionary new product, The Early Warning 2 Safe System. Through a PDA or a Safe Bracelet, the System alerts you to danger and sends for help! The problem is, fear is running rampant and it seems that people are dying from things Laurie fears most. He's certain he's to blame for the 'fear storm' gripping the city and must now try to face his fears in order to save others from them.

An interesting story. It's nice to see my city portrayed in a positive light. Although Calgary doesn't have a subway system I still recognized many landmarks, especially in TD centre which is no longer there as everything inside it is being rebuilt, but it was neat.
Anyway, the movie portrays fear as being something that is real, which, in some ways, it is. However, sometimes you can overcome certain fears.
I fear rides. Can't go on them. Are my fears founded or not? In my case it is not in my mind. If was to go on rides, I would become sick, due to how I hear.
My favorite scene is when the doors do not close on the subway. I've seen that happen here as a matter of fact. The trains we have here have sometimes malfunctioned and the train started moving while the doors were open. Our trains are built with an automated system now so that does not happen. They close automatically.lousy film - Christo
It's pretty rare that I don't make it until the end of a film, but this one deserves the honour. Pretentious, vacant and empty. On top of it, it's supposed to be set in Calgary but you recognise Montreal at every corner. They even have long scenes in the very distinctive metro system! Calgary doesn't even have an subway!1 3/4 stars.. took 3 days to watch - Trixnbun
This movie has got to have a very strange premise, slow moving and not the greatest acting.
The premise is that a global security company is trying to launch a new product, this guy who is the brother of the sister running it, is the most neurotic filled guy I've ever seen.
He seriously requires some medication and therapy. He starts believing that everything that happens is his fault and that if he can overcome his 5 greatest fears the world will be righted and people will stop dying from strange accidents or getting injured.
I think the highlight of the movie was the guy who almost died in the elevator chasing him around the movie saying kill yourself or we'll all die! meanwhile he's in underwear and a cast on an arm doing this.
I'd say pass on renting this one.. maybe catch it on the movie channel to see if it interests you
