Very, very bad - Coconut_Willy
Having seen the first four installments in this franchise and not being sure if there are more, I can confirm that this is by far the worst one. It's too bad because I thought it started pretty well; the first 15 minutes did make some sense when placed in the overall mythology context. Sadly, it goes very quickly downhill after that. Actually, as soon as Mario Van Peebles comes back it becomes totally ridiculous. Looking back, it might have been unavoidable or at least predictable as the intention here is obviously to turn the series into action films and drop any substance from it. The cast is at best questionable doing a rather poor acting job with a lame dialogue and comic book style characters. The sets and locations are OK as well as the soundtrack and the camera work. It is a well made movie technically but the storyline is seriously deficient.yeah it's bad but... - Saucypants1000
Ok some dude wrote that this was the worst of the franchise, to which I say you are out of your mind, the Quickening is far worse, Endgame is far worse, and if you have seen Highlander: The Source....OOOOHHHH ouch that is by far the worst thing to have the highlander name attached to it. This movie is not good it's not terrible it's just...well it's a highlander movie. This seems like an appology for the second one, where the Scots are from space, it's alright, Mario Van Peebles is a horrible actor and the dialogue and the fight scenes aren't that great but it's really not that bad, it's just an average movie at best.Off with its head! - TJS-
Easily the worst of the Highlander movie series. It tries -and fails to recapture the magic of the original. In fact its really almost a event by event remake of the first movie. There is absolutely nothing new here, except the lame concept of illusions. Van Peebles character is just a lame regurgitation of the Kurgan, and not nearly as interesting or menacing a presence as that original villian. The Unger character is just as shallow a regurge. There seems to be absolutely no reason for her to be in the story, except for a nifty love scene. Kind of like the character of the kid -whos only purpose is to become a hostage to the lame villian.
Only Highlander fans should risk this one, and even for them I'm raising the caution flag. The only reason I'm giving this dud the 2nd star is out of respect for Lambert, who still manages to put in a good performace despite the material he has to work with.
