The War Zone
"Unforgettably Frank In Its Depiction Of Human Evil." -Shawn Levy, OREGONIAN
In this incredible directorial debut, critically acclaimed actor Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction, Rob Roy, Reservoir Dogs) takes us on an emotionally compelling journey that's impossible to forget.
Fifteen-year-old Tom and his family have just uprooted from London to England's countryside. While troubled by loneliness and his emerging sexuality, Tom is tormented by suspicions that his father and his seventeen-year-old sister Jessie may be harboring a horrific family secret.
Unable to let his suspicions subside, Tom gradually discovers that painful reality lurking behind this seemingly normal family. Isolated, confused and consumed by anger, Tom is determined to expose his family's dark secret before it destroys himself and the ones he loves.

Like eating a basket of lemons only to remember you just drank a quart of milk five minutes ago, and now it's all curdling. Like strapping on goggles and stuffing your face in a bowl of flour to find a Smartie, only to realize the flour is choking you and turning your throat into a pinata. I actually like low-key movies that depict human evil, but this takes evil to stunning levels. I found I actually couldn't take it -- I felt voyeuristic and culpable and dismayed. If that's what you want, this is in fact an amazing film. Every single gram of good in this movie (except the life of a baby born in a car crash) is set up momentarily and then demolished. This is brilliantly harrowing and horrible. But never, never again. The Wear Zone - Muriel_Lewis
Very weak film - continually wearing the viewer down. A challenging subject is severely compromised by too much unintelligible dialogue and a plot full of holes. As one of the reviewers above points out the movie is about THE SON – but he is so non-descript. Please send me Orlando ASAP so my faith in Tilda Swinton can be restored.Very ending scene shot confusing-movie mistitled.... - pigtails_in_montreal
This is a good movie but truly it should have been titled THE SON. It was really about the son's reaction to finding his dad having anal intercourse with his sister. All we see in the movie is the brooding boy. Is there a "war" in the movie really? Not as much as serious violent vocal denial at the end. This movie can hardly be called THE WAR ZONE. So maybe I should read the book which can possibly hold up to the title. Call the movie: "The Denial Zone" or like mentioned before "THE SON" but NOT "The War Zone". OKAY, Tim Roth's directorial debut. He's an actor, a good one also. As for the movie acting, it was good. Actor's were impecable. I really enjoy Tilda's work. Were those her real breasts???!!
Also can somebody explain to me the very ending? What is being being implied after stabbing the father and the son closes the bunker door? I hate being confused over movie endings. Sometimes I failed to understand the british dialect even after several rewinds. The movie has no subtitles.
