Orlando
Special Edition
Tilda Swinton, Billy Zane and Quentin Crisp star in this "hip, sexy and wickedly funny" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone Magazine) film based on the gender-bending novel by Virginia Woolf.
Swinton stars as Orlando, an English nobleman who defies the law of nature with surprising results. Immortal and highly imaginative, he undergoes a series of extraordinary transformations which humorously and hauntingly illustrate the eternal war between the sexes.
Visually stunning and beautifully acted, Orlando is an intoxicating blend of romance, adventure and illusion. "It's perfect... See it." (Ella Taylor, The Atlantic Monthly)

I watched this movie intently throughout and could not understand or relate to any of it. This in no way makes it a bad movie - the fact that I found it unfathomable is more of a reflection on me than it I suppose. I still have no idea what the point it - maybe I should have taken some arts courses instead of engineeringNice movie - Mano
I agree with the previous reviewers. This is a nice movie. To take a novel by Virginina Woolf and turn it into a movie is not easy. I recommend folks to watch the extra features in this DVD. Sally Potter's interview is quite telling. She talks about the number of drafts she had to do before she embarked upon her movie.
I am fan of Tilda Swinton anyway. So, it was easy for me to like this movie. Well cinematographed. Music was great. Attention to details being a period piece was good too. IMDB gives you the goofs in their trivia if you want the fine details.
Very relevent in this modern day interpretation of social constructs of gender.
I am glad I rented it.See it! - Deputygoat
This is a wonderful film that asks many questions that are still at the forefront of current Western thought - what is gender? sex? do they define us? are they destiny?
Tilda Swinton is magical, drawing you in to the strange world.
And the costumes - all 400 year's worth - are inspired.
