i thought the acting was good. the dialogue was a bit contrived and stagy in parts but the two main actors got into the heads of the characters and it was chilling in parts. the suspense is pretty good.
the ending was my favorite part. it was thought provoking to say the least.i am glad the movie wasn't visually graphic, it relied more on suspense.Gripping, tense - clauditorium
Gripping, tense, witty drama is a bit too stagy, mostly the dialogue (people don’t talk that way). Cathartic, moving climax features a mesmerizing speech by Ben Kingsley’s character. Sigourney Weaver kicks ass with a great performance, keeping her emotions (rage, pain) close to the surface. Not Easy to Watch. - cathyottawa
You have to be patient with this film. It starts out a little slow, as the scene is set, and Weaver's character is established.
But as soon as Kingsley and Weaver get together, you'll be glued to the screen. Weaver is sure Kingsley is the man who raped and tortured her several years ago. But she was blind folded, so how can she be certain?
Kingsley denies he's the one. She must be delusional. Her paranoia is making her believe things that aren't true.
In the middle is Weaver's husband, who must decide if his wife is right, or if she's keeping captive and interrogating an innocent man.
This film will keep you guessing until the last minutes as to whether Kingsley is guilty or not.
This is an emotionally draining film, with strong performances from everyone. An experience like this does different things to different people - for Weaver's character, it's made her hard, and almost emotionless.
Some thought her acting to be stiff, but I think it's the character who's rigid. It was believable.
