Road to Perdition is a fantastic movie by all accounts. Plot, Actors, direction, etc... no worries, no spoilers. Just get it.
USELESS FACTS:
Tom Sizemore was strongly considered to play Al Capone, as was Alfred Molina.
Jude Law hooked up with a magician to learn how to lace a coin through his fingers, a trick he performs in the film.
Jude Law hated his appearance for the film and insisted on wearing a cap every time he wasn't on camera. Director Sam Mendes insisted that Law also remain paler than all of his co-stars.
The bead of sweat that rolls down Tom Hanks' face during his first encounter with Jude Law was not make-up but Hanks' own sweat.
The photographs shown in Harlen Maguire's (Jude Law) apartment also appear in a book by Luc Sante titled "Evidence." According to Sante, the photos are part of a collection held by the Municipal Archives of the City of New York and were taken by members of the NYPD during the years 1914-1918.
To create a villain that could challenge the physically imposing Tom Hanks, director Sam Mendes wanted Jude Law to seem rodent-like.
The diner where Tom Hanks and Jude Law meet was bought on the internet by production designer Dennis Gassner for $20,000.Paul Newman's final farewell - movie_goer
Sam Mendes and Conrad Hall created a marvellous concoation of Visually stunning imagery by manipulating special hues and lighting hence creating the most perfect Dark setting in a film.
The Road to Perdition for me was more then just a film, it's something i've been longing to understand for a very long time. What stopped me the first time around is i wasn't fully prepared for a drama that was dark and rich with a complex storyline. But given a second chance, i understood all the energy and effort put forth. This is an incredible work of art. Something that will leave a lasting final impression of Paul Newman and his contribution on how we've evolved with Making history at the movies. He will be greatly missed.~ TOM HANKS MARVELLOUS IN THIS DARK ROLE ~ SOLID 4 3/4 Stars ~ - SqueakyChair
SNAPSHOT: Brooding dark movie. Lighting is deep moody, as is the subject matter. Riveting performances. Slow-paced but tight. A good dark movie.
MORE THOUGHTS: You won't come out of this experience with that feel good feeling, but you will know you have seen a masterpiece. This is decidedly not the type of movie you want you children to see. It is hard to really describe this film -- it is deeply disturbing in a delicious sort of way.
Might i suggest from ZIP.ca

OR something very 'artsy-fartsy' innovatively challenging try:
